WHY THE TEXAS HOUSE MATTERS

HISTORICALLY, THE GOP DOMINATED TEXAS LEGISLATURE DREW 60% REPUBLICAN AND 40% DEMOCRATIC DISTRICTS; THEREBY ENSURING GOP DOMINATED OFFICES FROM STATE TO CONGRESS.

NOW THAT THE US SUPREME COURT SAID POLITICAL GERRYMANDERING IS NOT THEIR BUSINESS, IT IS UP TO STATES TO POLICE THEMSELVES WHEN DRAWING LINES.

THE NEXT LEGISLATIVE SESSION (JANUARY 2021) THE TEXAS HOUSE WILL TAKE UP REDISTRICTING FOR CONGRESSIONAL LINES.

THE TEXAS HOUSE NEEDS 9 MORE SEATS TO HAVE A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IN 2021.

IF THERE IS A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY, THE GOP CANNOT:

MAKE 60/40 DISTRICTS

SUPPRESS MINORITY VOTE

ELIMINATE/BREAK UP
DEMOCRATIC DISTRICTS

FAIR MAPS MEAN MORE DEMOCRATIC AND INDEPENDENT VOTER TURNOUT.

WHEN TEXAS GOES BLUE, WE WILL HAVE BETWEEN 36 AND 43 (AFTER THE CENSUS IN 2020) ELECTORAL VOTES AND US HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES.

WITH THAT MANY ELECTORAL VOTES, TEXAS CAN SWING ANY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

WITH THAT MANY US HOUSE REPS, WE CAN EITHER BRING STABILITY TO THE DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY OR PUT IT AT RISK IF THE GOP GERRYMANDERS AND SWEEPS THE DISTRICTS.

IN 2018, BRANDY WAS A FIRST-TIME CANDIDATE RUNNING AGAINST A FIVE TERM REPUBLICAN INCUMBENT FOR TEXAS HOUSE DISTRICT 112. EVERYONE TOLD HER THAT A 14-POINT SPREAD WAS UNWINNABLE IN TEXAS, NEVERTHELESS SHE PERSISTED.

SHE WAS OUT RAISED AND OUTSPENT 3 TO 1 BY HER OPPONENT

SHE EARNED 49% OF THE VOTE.

BRANDY IS CONTINUING HER FIGHT FOR TEXAS HOUSE 112.

SHE WONT STOP UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE.
